Pot limit Omaha hi?
Keep in mind that there are really two types of pot limit O8. There are the
extremely passive games, where you can see the flop for just the big bet most
of the time. And then there are the games which are typically raised preflop.
The former games often have inexperienced players who don't understand the
importance of making pot sized bets much of the time. They will often raise by
the size of the big blind for example.
These passive games are much easier to beat. You see many flops, set traps as
a previous poster indicated by not raising when you get the nuts right away,
and hoping people incorrectly commit themselves without two-way hands while you
are freerolling with a lock on one end.
On the other hand, the raising agressive game calls for different strategy.
You can't play nearly as loosely pre-flop. And you can't just sit passively on
your strong hands and wait for the nuts.
You need legitimate drawing hands. And YOU must play aggressively with those
hands to make it more expensive for other players to hit their draws. You will
be going to the flop with fewer players, so two way hands are even more
important. I've often found that being aggressive, without a made hand on the
turn, but with draws to both ends of the pot, is an effective strategy.
