Beginners acting labs

PLYMOUTH - Plymouth Rock Studios is offering free beginners acting labs to be taught by Kevin Lasit, an acting instructor from California with more than 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. These Rock Educational Cooperative classes will be held at Plymouth South High School, off Long Pond Road.

Tuesdays, 6 to 8 p.m.: July 21 to Aug. 11 and Aug. 18 to Sept. 8.

Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m.: July 23 to Aug. 13 and Aug. 20 to Sept. 10.

The only fee for the course is one nonperishable food item per class, which will be donated to the Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse.

PLYMOUTH - PACTV will cablecast Commonwealth Update with Senate President Therese Murray on Channel 15 (for Comcast subscribers) and Channel 47 (for Verizon customers) at noon and 6 p.m. June 22-26 and at 3 and 4 p.m. June 27-28.

Free family film festival

KINGSTON - Regal Cinema's free family film festival at Independence Mall will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. starting June 23. Enjoy free, select G and PG movies all summer long. From June 24 through Aug. 19, the Independence Mall will also hold a free summer fun event every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., sponsored by the Mom's and Dad's Guide and PACTV, offering mall patrons free crafts and activities from area businesses such as a hair and makeup party with Maria Wood's Fashion Focus Program, crafts from Imagination Island and Dare Family Services, trivia with the Brockton Rox Mascot, cookie decorating with Sugar Plum Bakery and other interactive activities. Ballroom dancing lessons

PLYMOUTH - The Plymouth Recreation Department is offering ballroom dancing lessons with Richard Horblit this summer at Memorial Hall.

Salsa, the basics: six Wednesdays, from 7 to 8 p.m., from June 24 through July 29; $60 per person. From 8:10 to 9:10 p.m. there will be line dancing.



Project Arts free Wednesday concerts

PLYMOUTH - Project Arts of Plymouth Inc. is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2009 Wednesday night free summer concert series.

June 24: Dale & the Duds, a perennial favorite oldies band; with D.B.s orchestra opening

July 8: Steve Smith & the Nakeds, 40 years of soul, blues and R&B.

July 15: Entrain, a series favorite; with Boston and Bosco opening

July 22: A capella night with Ball in the House; Avenue-X opening

July 29: Led Zeppelin tribute band, Heartbreaker; with Ecstatic opening

Aug. 5: The James Montgomery Band; the Vykki Vox Band will open

Aug. 12: The Reminisants (classics and oldies); with Driving Guitars opening

The concert series runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday from June 24 through Aug. 26. Concerts take place in Pilgrim Memorial Park (South Park location), located on the waterfront at the intersection of Water and Leyden streets. On clear nights Bill Luzader from the Plymouth Planetarium sets up a telescope for stargazers. There is ample public parking in and around the concert site. This series is an extremely popular community event drawing many thousands of attendees each summer. Families and children are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs.
