Fireworks open fun stretch with bang

On Saturday evening, view the Port Huron fireworks at the Great Lakes Maritime Center on Water and First streets. This show is scheduled to start at 9:45 p.m.

Tuesday is Canada Day. You can view their celebration at Centennial and Canatara parks in Sarnia, or watch from our side in the Thomas Edison Parkway area.

There are two places to see fireworks on July 4. Check out the Lexington Independence Day celebration at the Lexington Harbor, or the St. Clair Independence Day celebration at Palmer Park.

On Saturday, July 5, head to the Port Sanilac Independence Day celebration at Harbor Park, or go further north to the Harbor Beach Maritime Festival on the waterfront downtown. You also can check out the fireworks at the Algonac Lions Club Pickerel Tournament at the Algonac Riverfront Park.

The Sandusky Thumb Festival also runs through Sunday. Check out music, the entertainment tent, an arts and crafts show and an antique show. The festival is at Sandusky City Park. Admission is free.

The Sail Port Huron Tall Ships Festival is today from noon to 5 p.m. and tomorrow and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Seaway Terminal and Desmond Landing in Port Huron. The 36th annual St. Clair Art Fair is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. This juried art fair offers more than 120 artists displaying and selling their works along the St. Clair River throughout downtown St. Clair. Admission is free.

Check out six beautiful gardens on the Master Gardener Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Port Huron area. Addresses of garden homes and maps will be provided with tickets, available at the MSU Extension Office, 200 Grand River Ave., Port Huron. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 the day of the tour.
