WSOP Winner

25th March, 2009

In the game of poker while skill and tactics will usually determine the winner of a hand, sometimes it comes down to a little bit of luck.

While a player can't raise, call and bluff their way through hands to manipulate an opponent, probability, can spoil a winning streak.

A single hand, a single card, can be the difference between winning and losing. This was the case for Bob Yamaguch, a 38 yr old software engineer, in the latest World Series of Poker circuit tournament at Harrah's Rincon Casino.

With just a few chips left and facing elimination, it came down to one final hand for Yamaguch. With his opponent holding pocket queens and a flop of 'Jack-10-9' the odds were against him. However holing the queen and seven of hearts, Yamaguch's odds changed with the 'Turn card', giving him a 'flush'.

Winning the biggest 'pot' of the tournament, Yamaguch walked away with the 1st place prize money of $20,808 and the converted WSOP gold ring.

With only 5 of the 17 WSOP Harrah Rincon events now complete, more than 2,300 entries have taken part in the tournaments, with more than half a million dollars in prize money has been paid out.
